Sanctuary Road
I walked for days,
From the bullets and the pain,
Death was chasing close by on my heels.
We paid to sail, like slaves inside a cage
And I lost my love in the sea
You can't judge a man
Unless you walk the road he's on
The Sanctuary road,
The Sanctuary road;
The way I've travailed
Is the same old freedom song,
Trying to find our way home
When I arrived they locked me up inside
For making my escape from that grave;
With paint they pry
A kindness from a child,
It's too much to be human these days
You wave your flag
Like a blade across my back,
So tell me who's your neighbour
When you need?
Your walls are cracked,
Your castle gates fall flat
You can't deny a doctor when you bleed
Building a wall is making a prison
But sooner or later
You'll see that you're in it
